Infrastructure & Capacity Highlights

Phase I Features:

  • 1 runway with parallel taxiway and two rapid exit ramps.

  • Terminal building (~90,000 sqm) with swing-gate operations and ~2,750 pax capacity.

  • Additional facilities: apron, cargo terminal (50,000 sqm), ATC, fire station, maintenance and administration & energy buildings.

  • Phase II adds another runway, apron, and 90,000 sqm terminal.

  • Phase III and IV include massive expansions—terminal size up to 1,60,000 sqm, apron capacity growth, and Code F CAT-III compliant taxiways and bays .

Capacity progression: 12 MPPA (Phase I) → 70 MPPA (Phase IV) over the next ~30 years.

Connectivity & Transit Integration

  • Road Links: Situated 700 m off the Yamuna Expressway, and connected via SH‑22A, Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), and upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway .

  • New Expressway: A 30 km direct expressway from Delhi to Jewar Airport approved, aimed at reducing travel time, costing ₹40–50k crore .

  • Complementary Link Road: Greater Noida authority is closing a 3 km gap to improve connectivity from Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad, easing congestion.

  • Rail Integration: The Ghaziabad–Jewar RRTS corridor (72 km) will connect the airport via a semi-high-speed link by 2027–2030.

  • Other Transit Plans: Ground Transportation Centre will integrate metro, high-speed rail, bus, and private transport.

Sustainability & Community Impact

  • Net-Zero Ambition: Designed to be India’s first net-zero emissions airport, with forest parks and native biodiversity preservation.

  • Economic Boost: Expected to fuel massive regional development—smart city zones, industrial parks, healthcare, and hospitality infrastructure planned by YEIDA.

  • Land & Rehabilitation: Expansion phases III and IV involve acquisition impacting over 17,000 families and several schools. Relief measures include resettlement, training, and compensation.

  • Industrial Catalyst: A new HCL-Foxconn semiconductor plant (₹3,700 crore) will be set up near the airport.

Timeline & Launch Updates

  • Validations: Flight trials by IndiGo completed in Dec 2024.
